Experiments and Exercises for the Six Divisions
These exercises are in the same genre as yoga, chi gong, tai chi or pilates in that they enhance strength, flexibility and health. The exercises are a flowing sequence of movements which bring your awareness to specific connections in the body and highlight difficulties you may have integrating the body and mind.
The movements are based on Infant Developmental Movements and Yoga Positions and are more experimental and experiential than Yoga as it is usually taught. You will be guided to find variations to the basic sequence that are specific to you and which form a personal practice. Many people have used these exercises to support them in periods of life change where they feel on shaky ground such as bereavement, dealing with addiction and mid-life crisis. The exercises strengthen and stabilise those aspects of your body and emotions which are being challenged at the time.
For Shiatsu Practitioners, they provide a unique series of exercises to suggest to clients which specifically deal with the chronic meridian conditions of the individual.
For anybody, they create a personal practice to strengthen specific weaknesses in the body, to stabilise emotions and generate tranquility in life.
In general, they re-new the same structural connections through which children learn to move and which are embodied in the so-called 'Six Divisions'. The aim is to regain spontaneity, flexibility and creativity in the whole of life by re-discovering those qualities in the body
